MOHAMMAD REZA MORTAZAVI & BURNT FRIEDMAN
Mohammad Reza Mortazavi (born in Isfahan, Iran, but resident of Berlin for several years) is one of the best tombak players in the world. A tombak is a Persian tambourine in the shape of a cup. He masters the instrument to such an extent that his music can no longer only be described as Persian, but as a veritable galactic sound. He often gives classical performances with Burnt Friedman, a real German electronics legend, but also regularly performs under the name Yek. As Yek, he transports the audience far beyond the usual horizons of sound, offering a middle ground between ancient folklore and synthetic atmospheres, oriental trance and ghost in the machine, elegant virtuosity and devilish programming. This both futuristic and timeless music offers an exceptional and bewitching sound clash!
