About Kanal

Kanal-Centre Pompidou is a new museum of modern and contemporary art and architecture opening in Brussels in 2026. Situated in the iconic Citroën garage by the canal, just a short walk away from the historic centre, it is a 40 000 m² meeting place that brings together artists and the public.

The collection and programme of Kanal showcase both established and emerging artists. Through strategic partnerships with the Centre Pompidou, CIVA and other cultural and artistic institutions at home and abroad, it hosts a rich panoply of singular exhibitions. But Kanal is more than a museum. It is an extension of the city where artistic disciplines can rub shoulders. With spaces for performance, dance, music and film, but also freely accessible spots to read, learn, experience, exchange and create. With a library and archives, auditoriums and its very own print shop. With a brasserie, restaurant, bakery and rooftop bar. Kanal is an ever-developing museum that wants to engage with its visitors. It will be an open and vibrant place where everyone can just drop in to celebrate art together, façon Kanal.
