The garden is conceived as a dynamic urban ecosystem, featuring a rich diversity of native edible species—such as medlar, quince, currant and aromatic herbs—inviting visitors to explore a landscape where each area reveals new discoveries.
Permeable paving, combined with carefully positioned dry-stone walls, creates microhabitats for thermophilic vegetation (muros) and associated fauna, thereby supporting biodiversity within this urban environment.
The wooded character of the neighbouring park is subtly extended through the planting scheme, softening the boundary between garden and park and enriching the surrounding ecosystem.
An innovative rain garden (wadi/oued) collects excess rainwater, encouraging infiltration and sustainable water management, and maintaining moist conditions even during periods of drought. This project was recognised as one of the winners of the 2023 Brussels Architecture Prize.
