Accessibility statement

Kanal strives to make its website accessible for as many visitors as possible. It’s important to us that our information and services are easy to consult and use. However, this is a work in progress: you can find information on the website’s current accessibility status on this page: www.kanal.brussels.

Compliance with accessibility requirements

Kanal has conducted an internal accessibility audit but not yet an external one to determine the exact level of accessibility. We can therefore assume that the website is not currently fully in compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA standard. This means that while some content meets the accessibility requirements, some improvements are still in order.

Measures taken by Kanal

To improve accessibility, we have already taken the following measures:

  • Accessibility is always taken into account when developing and modifying the website.
  • All content uses clear and straightforward language.
  • Alt texts – precise, descriptive texts – are added to images whenever possible.
  • When creating PDF files, accessibility for screen readers is accommodated to the extent possible.

Inaccessible content

Certain parts of the Kanal website are not yet (fully) accessible, including:

  • Some images do not yet have (good) alt texts. If an Alt text is not yet available, the field is left empty until it is. Images are provided with captions wherever necessary and feasible.
Care is taken to ensure good contrast between text and background but it may not be up to standard on some pages.
  • The accessibility of PDF files for screen readers is monitored so far as possible but some may not be sufficiently accessible.
