Dida

In The Cue, a project by artist and musician Dennis Vanderauwera, aka Dida, is at once a concert, an installation and a participatory artwork. Eight CDJs – digital media players originally designed for CDs – are operated by eight non-professional participants who trigger loops and cues. Gradually, the various layers of rhythm, harmony and texture coalesce. In his work, Dida explores the dynamic relationship between authorship and automation, and the friction between volatility and control.
