Ambiguous Angles is an image that can be interpreted in many ways. You might see a shell, an ornament, a soap dish, ovaries, an angry mouth, a portal, a wormhole, a crypt, a grotto, or even Cinderella's carriage. Whatever it is, it looks pretty grotesque and kitsch. The image is a photograph of the front and back of a plastic film prop, an unspecified piece of rocaille. The clue to the pluriform work is in its title: the image is ambiguous because its interpretation depends on the viewer's perception and the specific context of the exhibition.

The wall transfer is a large-scale set piece that adds a theatrical and worldly dimension to the sacrosanct white cube. Theatre and scenography have always been part of the vocabulary of Danai Anesiadou, who studied theatre and dance at DasArts in Amsterdam. Previously she also designed theatre sets and costumes. The work also points to her Greek heritage. In many of her exhibitions, she invokes the archetypes of Greek theatre.
