Jacqueline Mesmaeker

Jacqueline Mesmaeker studied fashion and design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and urban space at La Cambre, where she took classes from Jo Delahaut and Jean Glibert. Between 1962 and 1972, she worked as a designer for the Belgian department store Innovation, after which she turned to the visual arts. Her oeuvre is at once minimalist, elusive and multidisciplinary, ranging from drawing, photography and sculpture to film and video installations. It is steeped in literary references and uniquely exposes the serendipities of everyday life.
