From B-movies to surrealist cinema and the Nouvelle Vague: film has always been a source of inspiration for Danai Anesiadou.

Lady Dracula/Cool is a collage of two film posters: Lady Dracula by Franz Josef Gottlieb from 1977 and Cooley High by Michael Schultz from 1975. The work also includes plastic props like decorative friezes and other ornaments made from orgonite, a material that is believed to neutralise negative energies. The artist sees Lady Dracula as someone who became toxic as a result of environmental pollution. More generally though, Anesiadou construes vampirism as exploiting the plight of others. She created the work for D POSSESSION, her 2023 exhibition in WIELS. The artworks try to achieve a sort of exorcism or "de-possession", notably through the recurring use of orgonite.
