Lucy McKenzie

Lucy McKenzie lives and works in Brussels. She studied at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in Dundee and the Institut Supérieur de Peinture Van der Kelen-Logelain in Brussels, where she mastered techniques such as wood and marble imitation and trompe-l'oeil. Her work explores the role of art outside the museum, in fashion, architecture and public spaces. She draws inspiration from subcultures, mass media and the avant-garde. McKenzie's large, seemingly playful paintings often contain sharp social criticism and are influenced by artists like Diego Rivera. Like him, she makes accessible art with political undertones, balancing between commercial and public contexts, adapting her approach accordingly.
