Mona Filleul
Mona Filleul builds sculptural constellations from industrial materials – insulation boards, metal profiles, concrete – combined with beeswax, mulberry fibres, hemp, clay and papier-mâché, alongside LED lighting and electronic components. The result is richly textured, illuminated surfaces, often no larger than a smartphone screen, closely bound to her personal life and to the trans community to which she belongs. She conceives of her installations as shelters, spaces in which queer and trans experiences take shape and are recounted. Together with Ix Dartayre, she founded Tr@N$Fem PrAx1S to support and raise the profile of work by trans women.
