Oriol Vilanova studied architecture at the ETSALS-URI in Barcelona. His work focuses on rediscovering and recontextualising cultural objects, such as postcards he collects at flea markets, and integrating them into contemporary works of art. Through this practice, he reflects on the ways in which images convey culture and values, past and present, in our image-dominated world. His work shows how value in the art world is created, manipulated and maintained. He also explores how exhibition circuits function as frameworks that bestow – or withhold – meaning and validation.
