Cassils & SJ Norman
From sunset to sunrise, Cassils and SJ Norman engage in a ritual related to transgender experience. As two artists who grew up one generation away from electroshock conversion therapy, prior to the onslaught of the internet and before establishing the language expressing transgender experience, Cassils and Norman navigated the world with a profound sense of disorientation. Devotion evokes the difficulties of trans bodies to exist, and the internalised grief and shame that drives the desire to leave one’s flesh.
