How to become a Friend?

There are two steps to complete to finalise your Kanal Friends registration:

1. Make a first, fixed payment directly to Kanal using the button below.
2. Make a second, minimum contribution to our Friends Fund at the King Baudouin Foundation.

Both steps are required to successfully complete your Kanal Friends registration. Please read the information below carefully before registering.

All levels of friendship include the same Kanal Friends programme of events, activities and cultural experiences. By choosing the Civic Circle option, you also choose to support Kanal-Centre Pompidou’s social mission through our dedicated social project, as detailed on the previous page.

The annual amounts shown below are the minimum amounts for each option. The first payment is fixed, while the second payment is a minimum contribution, which you may choose to increase.

Levels of friendship 

Solo Kanal Friend:

• Annual minimum: €1 250
  • Fixed payment to Kanal: €300       
  • Minimum contribution to Friends Fund: €950

Duo Kanal Friend:

• Annual minimum: €2 000 
  • Fixed payment to Kanal: €500 
  • Minimum contribution to Friends Fund: €1 500

Solo Civic Circle Kanal Friend:             

• Annual minimum: €3 000 
  • Fixed payment to Kanal: €300 
  • Minimum contribution to Friends Fund: €2 700

Duo Civic Circle Kanal Friend:              

• Annual minimum: €3 500
  • Fixed payment to Kanal: €500 
  • Minimum contribution to Friends Fund: €3 000

Please note: The annual minimum is made up of two separate payments to two different recipients. The first payment to Kanal is fixed. The second payment to the King Baudouin Foundation must be at least the amount shown for your chosen option, but you are welcome to contribute more.

Once you have chosen your friendship level, click the button below to make your first payment.

Make your first payment

After your first payment has been completed, you will receive an automatic email containing a link to the King Baudouin Foundation portal for your chosen option.

Your registration is not yet complete at this stage. Making the first payment alone does not make you a Kanal Friend. You must also complete the second payment to finalise your registration. Your Kanal Friends status will only become active once both payments have been completed and processed and you have received a final confirmation email from Kanal.

Use the link in your email to access the relevant portal for our Friends Fund and make your minimum contribution.

The registration portal will indicate the minimum amount for your chosen option. You may choose to contribute more if you wish to provide additional support.

You must complete your second payment within 15 days of your first payment.

Refunds are only available for your first, direct payment to Kanal. Contributions made to the Friends Fund at the King Baudouin Foundation are not refunded by Kanal.

If you do not complete the second payment within 15 days of your first payment, your first payment will be refunded. Your Kanal Friends registration will not be completed.

To become a Kanal Friend after this deadline, you will need to start the registration process again.

Once your second payment has been processed by the King Baudouin Foundation, please allow up to 10 working days for your Kanal Friends status to be activated. Your status will only become active once you have received a final confirmation email from Kanal.

If you have completed both payments but have not received your confirmation email within 10 working days of your second payment being processed by the King Baudouin Foundation, or if you have any questions about your registration, please contact friends@kanal.brussels.

Eligible donations made to the King Baudouin Foundation may qualify for a tax reduction, subject to the applicable conditions. The tax reduction applies to the eligible donation actually paid to the King Baudouin Foundation, not automatically to the full annual amount paid for your Kanal Friends option. Your first payment is separate and is not covered by this donation tax reduction.

Please ensure that you provide the correct personal details in the King Baudouin Foundation portal, as these may be needed to issue your tax certificate.

The King Baudouin Foundation is supporting the project. Donations of €40 or more per year made to the Foundation are eligible for a tax reduction of 30% on the amount actually donated (Art. 145/33 CIR).

Your Kanal Friends status is valid for 365 days from the date of purchase.

You’ll receive a reminder to renew your Friend status before it expires.

For a Duo Kanal Friend or Duo Civic Circle Kanal Friend option, only one person needs to complete the two-step payment process.

To link a second Friend to your Duo option, please email friends@kanal.brussels with the email address associated with the other person’s Kanal Friends account. We will link the two accounts.
