Untitled (Time Zones)
Using various techniques such as video, textiles, and installation, Raffaella Crispino questions the political causes of the phenomena that are present in our daily lives.
The multidisciplinary artist is fascinated by the international flights that seemingly make it possible to turn back time, like Tokyo to San Francisco. Here, with Untitled (Time Zones), she addresses time zones and the relationship to time and the division between territories that they establish. The seams between the differently coloured organza fabrics portray the arbitrary, artificial lines that cross one another, fold, and finally disappear based on political interests, particularly colonial, and historical and geographical conditions. Beyond the seams, Untitled (Time Zones) suggests new horizons, both temporal and territorial.
