In aCORdo, the Brazilian choreographer Alice Rippoll questions the hierarchic organization of our society. The theatre is one of the places where well-established social norms are perpetuated, where the stage and the auditorium are two distinct spaces that are mutually impenetrable. Swirling around vertiginously, four dancers from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro defy the forces of oppression and intimidation that keep this order in place. This physical encounter gives birth to an exceptionally powerful show, which places the spectator at the heart of an experience that is as intense as it is disconcerting.
