The exhibition A truly immense journey explores the forces that have moved people, ideas, and art forward since the early 20th century. It features the work of modern icons, such as Lygia Clark, Sonia Delaunay, Alberto Giacometti, Natalia Goncharova, Wifredo Lam and Henri Matisse, as well as contemporary works by international and Brussels artists, including Sammy Baloji, Edith Dekyndt and Hana Miletić. The approximately 350 artworks on show are primarily drawn from the Centre Pompidou and Kanal, but also include loans from other public and private collections in Belgium.

During this interactive tour, developed in collaboration with art encounter facilitator and education expert Julie Rodeyns of Visual Dialogues, the guide creates a genuine encounter between your group and a selection of artworks from the exhibition. Looking at art together – talking and sharing ideas based on impressions, emotions, and multiple frames of reference – can give rise to fresh, surprising interpretations. The Visual Dialogues method is part of an innovative form of art education that is gaining traction in museums worldwide, from MoMA in New York to Museum M+ in Hong Kong.

Kanal wants to give you and your group the best possible experience and works to accommodate everyone’s needs during the guided tours. At the entrance, mediators will be happy to assist you, and here you will also find folding stools, wheelchairs, and noise-cancelling headphones. During the tours, voice amplifiers and other tools are used by all the guides as standard. Details on accessibility can be found on the accessibility page.
