Gabriel Kuri lives and work in Brussels. He studied visual arts at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas (UNAM) in his hometown of Mexico City. Between 1987 and 1991 he took part in Gabriel Orozco's Taller de los viernes, a workshop for young artists to learn, experiment and exchange ideas. After his graduation, Kuri moved to Europe and got his MA in fine arts from Goldsmiths University in London. Kuri's work reflects his keen interest in systems, categorisations and materials. In his collages and sculptures, he often uses elements from everyday life, combining different objects to create new interpretations of the world around us.
