In 2021-22, Joëlle Tuerlinckx created a series of 63 postcards for her exhibition PLAN B - série B, which make up a kind of mini-retrospective of her work. The postcards are reminiscent of Marcel Duchamp's Boîte-en-valise (1941), a suitcase containing miniature reproductions of his most important works, like a portable museum.
With similar wit, Tuerlinckx presents her oeuvre in the form of postcards you'd buy in a museum shop, in which the actual work seems rather incidental. They are inspired by real cards from different periods that she has reproduced, which adds to the ambiguity. The status of the postcards is also debatable: are they new works of art, mere reproductions or evolving archive documents?

The title of the series refers to a "logical" way of organising that artist's ever-changing and highly self-referential body of work. Just as in the lexicon that Tuerlinckx made for WIELS, she defines and classifies her work in a very personal way. "Plan B" also refers to a back-up or alternative and to the importance of imagination and innovation when the standard model comes up short.
