For many decades, AMVK has explored the sexualised representation of women in the media and popular culture. In Premiere Celu Garnitures, she shows five different images of women, taken from magazines: three portraits and two nude silhouettes. The images come from AMVK's extensive archive of magazines, which includes numerous erotic titles.

The tapestry brings together different techniques and materials: a page from a magazine, different digital printing techniques, paint, wood and acrylic glass. The female faces are pasted onto the wooden panels, while the nude silhouettes are printed in black on the back of the acrylic glass. The images have been digitally manipulated and the nudity is partly hidden from view. As is often the case in her work, AMVK plays with the codes and aesthetics of advertising, here seen in the bright colours and the use of materials like Plexiglas and PVC. The black-and-white contrasts, on the other hand, are reminiscent of print and the visual language of early computers.

In this work, AMVK questions the eroticisation of women in mass media, daring us to see things differently.
