Outsiders: Vincen Beeckman & Samusocial

Kiosk Radio x Kanal

An older man with short grey hair is shaving his face with a blue razor and shaving foam.

Kanal is not only a building a museum, but also a sound. Online community radio Kiosk proved the perfect partner to help broadcast it into Brussels and beyond. For the Outsiders series, once a month on Sunday mornings, Kanal invites over an artist for a one-hour set: a new composition, a mix, an interview.

Vincen Beeckman is an artist and documentary photographer whose work creates connections and interactions. He builds real relationships with the subjects he photographs: these people, whose lives differ greatly from his own, frequently become co-creators of his projects.

Since 2024, Beeckman and Samusocial have been working on a shared notebook with people experiencing homelessness, developing a collective body of work where images are reimagined through collage, drawing and other creative gestures.

In this session, Beeckman and the participants invite listeners on a sonic and musical ramble through Brussels – a combo of raw life stories, spoken word and playlists, gathered from the hidden corners of the city by members of the Samusocial community.
