(All dressed up and) nowhere to go

Peggy Lee Cooper & KNEPH

Through this ephemeral installation in front of the KANAL - Centre Pompidou in Brussels, Peggy Lee Cooper and KNEPH explore these feelings that overwhelm us in recent months: loneliness, alienation, lack of human contact or with the audience.

When your walls become your prison and everything seems to close around you, that you suffocate in this box which feels every day more oppressive and smaller.
Waiting, this eternal waiting for something to finally happen, for us to go back on stage. To let the doors open. To go back to breathing people, theaters, places of meeting and sharing.

This performance, organized as part of the Heritage Days also asks this question: what is the Belgian heritage? Is it just inanimate things, buildings, paintings? Or do living beings, made of flesh and filled with emotions, have a real place in the eyes of the public and the state?

The caravan / dressing room in which Peggy is locked, becomes the metaphor of a world immobilized under the dictation of official measures. An aquarium where she is observed, like a decoration, but not something essential.

Is it really a performance? Emotions do not need to be portrayed: fear, anger, frustration, amazement, suffocation, paralysis, dumbfounded, the feeling of being caged… and certainly loneliness, come from an inner experience, lived by everyone.

This ephemeral installation will be visible outside the KANAL - Centre Pompidou, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of April from 15:00 to 18:00 (To the right of the roundabout, on the Place de l' Yser side).

A device will allow you to hear what is going on inside the caravan and markers will be available if you want to express yourself on the subject, by writing on Peggy Lee Cooper's caravan / prison.
