For It Never Ends, KANAL has invited the Brussels-based artists-artisans Daniel Wagener and Axel Claes – who for the occasion have formed the collective ‘Les Conseillers’ – to imagine a programme, intended for families, around ‘old style’ printing techniques. 

The idea of creating a printing works within John M Armleder’s exhibition reminds us that Ecart, the collective co-founded by the artist in Geneva in 1969, was also a publishing house, a printing workshop and a bookshop. For this first workshop in a series of seven monthly meetings, Daniel Wagener and Axel Claes propose to make postcards thanks to a series of index cards which each contain some ‘good advice’ to bear in mind. Drawn at random by the participants, these cards provide the impetus to experiment with the technique of letterpress printing. Thanks to this fun and hands-on system, the budding printers get to swap their postcards as if they were Panini stickers and so can collect all the works that have been made in a case specially designed by the artists.
