SWEET16 : ROMEO CASTELLUCCI

CINEMATEK disposes of an extraordinary collection of 23.000 16mm films, including unique prints, documentaries, classics, avant-garde and militant films. Once a month, we present the special SWEET16 event, an experimental performative tribute to 16mm. Curator Nicola Mazzanti invites filmmakers, artists or film personalities to come and draw from his collection and to make us discover some surprises.

Italian theatre director Romeo Castellucci inaugurates this series, presenting films from the American underground of the years 1960-1970.  This session, followed by a conversation with Castellucci, will show us how the visual experiments of filmmakers like Stan Brakhage inspired Castellucci – who this autumn in Brussels has (theatrical) performances about everywhere.
