Zen For Film
Nam June Paik
Zen for Film, a creation of absolute simplicity, is a major work created by Nam June Paik in between his participation in Fluxus and his work with TV, which marked the birth of art video. Somewhere between an event and a Zen garden this film is made up of unexposed film runs through a projector on an endless loop, gradually accumulating dust and scratches. John Cage’s Silence, the theory of information or the theatre of shades are all paths that enable one to approach Zen for Film and to follow the repercussions thereof in a wide range of contemporary works.
