Xique-Xique

Xique-Xique is a downtempo project from São Paulo (Brazil), created by Xavier Fabre and Bibiana Graeff, inspired and influenced by the Brazilian artist collective Voodoohop and somehow perfectly picturing the boiling alternative scene of São Paulo. You could describe the music of Xique-Xique as a mix of deep grooves, hypnotic melodies along with organic rhythms.

Xavier is a French dj and music producer, autodidact and active since 2000, who built a proper solo career on a wide musical culture and precise technique. Convinced that melancholic melodies and powerful grooves are a perfect match, his productions and dj sets relentlessly explore the deepest sides of our feelings, mixing electronic elements and subtle harmonies to reach the sensible point of balance.

Bibiana Graeff is a Brazilian musician and music selector from Porto Alegre, a multi-instrumentalist artist who performed for years as keyboards of the late Brazilian genius Jupiter Apple and currently member of Anvil FX (Daft Records). Her scenic presence and her performances, along with an extensive music culture makes of her a complete artist from the Brazilian alternative scene.

Together and during a Voodoohop festival in Heliodora (Brazil), they decided to synthesise the ambiances and sensations of a jungle Voodoohop Party into sounds. “Xaxoeira" was born, “Cachoeira” in proper Portuguese which means “Waterfall”, which you will find easily if you ever go to Heliodora.

Since the release of the Xaxoeira EP on The Magic Movement in 2016, playlisted by Blond:sh, edited by Acid Pauli and remixed by Nicola Cruz, and which tracks remained for more than a year in the charts, Xique-Xique never stopped travelling, performing around the world and spreading this typical, Brazilian influenced, electronic sound. From Heliodora’s Brazilian jungle to the faraway places of Canada, Thailand, Russia, Norway, from Ibiza and Mykonos to French Cannes movie festival, always trying to reach the perfect balance of sound, the one that hypnotise you and makes you dance your ass off.

In 2019 and after two years of distance, Bibiana is partnering up again with Xavier to propose for the first time a unique live-act whereas the dj sets remained assumed by Xavier.
