Ann Veronica Janssens

Ann Veronica Janssens studied sculpture at La Cambre and lives and works in Brussels. Since the 1980s she has been working on a body of visual and sensory art, following in the footsteps of artists such as James Turrell and the American Light and Space movement. In her site-specific and immersive installations, she experiments with our perception of space and light by using glass, mirrors, concrete, fog, colour and light. Her work was showcased at the Pirelli Foundation in Milan, the Collection Lambert in Avignon, the CAB Foundation in Brussels, the Panthéon in Paris and the Louisiana Museum north of Copenhagen, among others. Together with Michel François, she represented Belgium at the 48th Venice Biennale in 1999. She also participated in Manifesta 8 in Murcia, Manifesta 10 in Saint Petersburg and the biennials of Sydney, Istanbul and Sao Paulo. Her work is part of many collections, including those of M HKA in Antwerp, MRBAB in Brussels, Mu.ZEE in Ostend, MAC in Grand Hornu, S.M.A.K. in Ghent, Museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar, the Louisiana Museum in Humlebæk, the Nasher Sculpture Museum in Dallas and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
