Danai Anesiadou
Danai Anesiadou is a Belgian artist of Greek origin whose multidisciplinary practice encompasses performance, installation, sculpture and collage. In her personal language she taps into various sources from both popular culture and the canonical forms of "high" art. Metaphysics, deep politics, rumors, conspiracies and the intimacy of secrets are the centrifugal forces from which Anesiadou's whole oeuvre radiates.
The artist studied at KASK (Ghent, Belgium) and DasArts (Amsterdam, The Netherlands). She was in residency at ISCP, 2011 (New York, USA), Fogo Island Arts, 2012 (Newfoundland, Canada) and IASPIS, 2015 (Stockholm, Sweden). Her solo exhibitions include D POSSESSIONS at WIELS, Brussels (2023); "Don't commit suicide just because you are afraid of death" at Nottingham Contemporary (2015); DAMNESIA VU. Zum Besten Der Griechen at Kunsthalle Basel (2011) and the series Isomosis/Isofix/Isomopolis at Etablissement d’en face, Brussels (2009), among others. She has also participated in documenta 14, Athens/Kassel (2017) and in group shows at Casa Luis Barragán, Mexico City (2019); Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris - MAM Paris, Paris (2019); Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2013); Witte de With, Rotterdam (2010) and the 5th Berlin Biennale, Berlin (2008) among other institutions. Anesiadou is in the collections of Lafayette Anticipations in Paris and the Luma Foundation in Arles.
