Éric Croes

Éric Croes studied sculpture at La Cambre and lives and works in Brussels. After his studies, he developed a wholly unique world, full of mythological, queer, medieval and folkloric references. After taking classes at the Académie Constantin Meunier, he turned his focus to ceramics, transposing his themes to this new medium. Several layers of meaning can be read into his imaginative and hybrid figures. On a technical level, they allude to diverse types of craftsmanship and a wide range of styles, from Etruscan to Japanese. Croes has taken part in numerous Belgian group exhibitions: at Komplot, Botanique and the Van Buuren Museum in Brussels, M HKA in Antwerp, Kunsthal in Ghent and BPS22 in Charleroi. Abroad, his work has been exhibited at the Academia Belgica in Rome, Villa Noailles in Paris and FRAC in Dunkirk. It is part of several international collections, including those of the Art Museum Ceramics Research Center in Arizona, Le Voyage à Nantes, Le Vent des Forêts in Lorraine, the Musée National de céramique in Sèvres and the Province of Hainaut in Charleroi.
