Judith Barry

Judith Barry studied architecture, art, computer animation, literature and film theory in the United States. Her work often takes the form of installations that incorporate research, architecture, exhibition design, film, performance and media. She explores different themes which question history in relation to the development of technology. They include art history, social history, feminism(s) and new media in their continuously evolving forms. Barry belongs to the first generation of US artists working in video and took part in several pioneering exhibitions that fully embraced the medium. Her work was shown in the biennales of Berlin, Venice, Nagoya, São Paulo, Sharjah and New York (Whitney Museum), at documenta in Kassel and at Carnegie International in Pittsburgh. It is included in the collections of MoMA and the Whitney Museum in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and MACBA in Barcelona, among many others.
