Freud BLACKOUT
The principles of repetition, reproduction and uniqueness are at the core of Oorebeek’s practice, which often makes use of lithography. Freud BLACKOUT is an overprinted poster, purchased from the Freud Museum, Vienna, mounted on dibond. Freud can be considered as the father of the ‘blackout’.
The Austrian neurologist developed the concept of repression as part of his psychoanalytic theory, in which a memory or a thought that is too painful is repressed out of the consciousness.
