A mutant from the HaFaBra family? A hip hop crew popping up without warning? Or a sound painting event? Bakanaï is a colourful collectif ft. brass, percussion and choreography, directed by Laurent Blondiau, Bodé Owa and Joachim Noël.
Not just a music band, but a kind of laboratory where both professional and amateur artists can try out new things and learn from each other. Bringing in their different backgrounds and artistic luggage, the dancers and musicians develop a common repertoire. They juggle with all kinds of riffs and rhythms on a sizzling and continuously swelling baseline. A musical Rubik's Cube offering new directions at every turn.
The neverending flow of music and dance may lead both the musicians and the audience to a certain state of trance. The best of Fela Kuti & Afrika 70 and the Sun Ra Arkestra, genetically modified with typical Brussels DNA.
