Premiere Chant for Hope I Miet Warlop
Dhaka Art Summit 2023
Last week Chant for Hope by Brussels-based artist Miet Warlop premiered at the Dhaka Art Summit. Chant for Hope (2022-2023) is a participatory sculpture in which a group of performers create a variety of words by filling moulds on the floor with plaster, inspired by the history of language and its evolution in Bangladesh. The sculptures evolve as the audience sings, dances, and moves around them to reveal new meanings.
Chant for Hope was commissioned by the Samdani Art Foundation and KANAL-Centre Pompidou with the support of the Flemish Community and EUNIC.
