Abstraction and moving images
A line that moves forward, an object that floats, a shape that transforms.
Children venture out into the exhibition spaces to explore, observe and become familiar with moving images, gradually immersing themselves in the world of abstraction.

Workshop (120 min)

Creating an experimental film
Teaming up with Patrimoine à roulettes, an organisation that "rolls" heritage to life through creation, play and discovery, pupils take part in a stop-motion workshop. Using this frame-by-frame animation technique, they create an experimental animated film based on their observations of abstract artworks in the exhibition. With a fixed camera and different tactile materials, pupils get to explore the possibilities of the moving image, inventing stories and bringing characters to life.

This tour and workshop are based on the exhibition A truly immense journey, which explores the theme of movement. It brings together works from the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Kanal and other public and private collections in Belgium.
