Film as told by
Film is constantly evolving. From cinema screens and museum walls to smartphones, moving images are created using tools ranging from analogue cameras to animation software and AI. They have become ubiquitous, shaping how the world is seen and understood.
Film as told by is a monthly series exploring alternative perspectives on the past, present and future of the medium. Held on the first Wednesday of each month in Kanal’s main auditorium, each edition invites an artist, filmmaker or critic to share a personal story about film. The format is intentionally open: it might take the form of a curated screening, a presentation of their own work, a lecture or something unexpected.
Bringing together emerging voices and established figures, Film as told by creates meeting points across disciplines, generations and perspectives, opening new ways to think about what moving images can be today – as told by those who make them.
