By converting a garage into a museum, architects have written a new chapter in a story that began a long time ago

Partially constructed interior space with a concrete floor, exposed steel beams, a red staircase, large windows, and sheer curtains. Construction materials are scattered on the floor.

Tour (90 mins)

Explore the Kanal building through its history and transformations. Formerly a Citroën showroom and garage situated along the canal, the site now houses an architecture museum and a contemporary art museum. Discover the choices made by the architects, who worked with the existing structure rather than start from a blank page. The building still reveals traces of its past uses: materials, volumes, details. Learn to interpret the architecture of this building in a new light by identifying these clues.

Workshop (90 mins)

Feel, perceive! Your senses and perceptions question the building and the way its story can be told. Based on your observations, leave a personal mark, reflecting your experience of the place and the elements that have left their mark on you.
