Animals, play and sensory exploration
Equipped with their own backpack, the children set off on a sensory exploration of the exhibition. Along the way, they encounter five intriguing boxes, each representing an animal habitat. When opened, they reveal: a centipede, a frigatebird, a snail, an elephant and a penguin. The animals demonstrate different ways of moving and encourage the children to use their backpacks. These contain Combo Toys – modular play objects specially designed for the exhibition – allowing children to explore shapes, colours and textures.

Workshop (45 min)

Imaginative sensory creation
Using fabrics, pom-poms and collage, each child creates their own 3D animal, inspired by the iconic Bichos – meaning ‘little creatures’ in Spanish – by the artist Lygia Clark. The creation unfolds to the rhythm of music, and each creature is given eyes, ears and a mouth. Each step – choosing, assembling, finishing – marks a stage in the creative process. At the end, every child has a unique and colourful souvenir to take home.

This tour and workshop are based on the exhibition A truly immense journey, which explores the theme of movement. It brings together works from the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Kanal and other public and private collections in Belgium.
