AFIELD Forum 2025
Transitional justice by Artists
27/05/2025 — 30/05/2025
After its first successful run in 2024, the AFIELD Forum returns to Brussels to explore the ways artists can help drive societal transformation. Following last year’s focus on systemic change, the 2025 forum invites participants to engage with the work and processes of transitional justice. This term refers to the processes that are used to address injustice and human rights violations, for instance after a war or the fall of a repressive regime. This can be achieved through court cases, truth commissions, reparations programmes, institutional reforms … and art.

A workshop with Emanuel Almborg, Graziela Kunsch and Penny Wilson (Assemble Play) on alternative pedagogies
29/10/2024
Please join us for a workshop on alternative child pedagogies. After a brief introduction, we will divide into three groups focusing on different practices: Graziela Kunsch will lead a practical experiment involving fine, dry sand and perforated materials (such as funnels and pasta strainers), using the Strandgut playspace created by Ute Strub in Berlin as a case study. Emanuel Almborg’s group will focus on the research practice and politics of observing infants, delving into theories of child development and observation as a scientific and documentary film approach.

Survival Toolkit for Intentional Communities
29/10/2024 — 30/01/2025
The so-called "Survival Kits" are designed to help intentional communities understand and reflect on their status and future potential. Unlike many organisational tools that focus on boosting efficiency and productivity, Survival Kits emphasise the activist nature and the sustained need for warmth and attention of intentional communities, covering a wider range of considerations such as the practice of solidarity and the transformation of individuals and society.
