Mohamed Toukabri and Eyes-B invite you into their alternative photo booth. Unlike a standard passport photo, which requires you to pose as neutrally as possible, here, you get to take a self-portrait in motion. The ingredients? Your own body, rap music and light painting.

Free School

13/05/202215/05/2022

For several years the Free School has been a central project of the festival. It is a space to imagine new ways of thinking together through artistic practice; a temporary school in which we experiment, produce, and transmit knowledge together.

This edition of the Free School explores a discipline as specific as it is complex: music. More than just an art form, music has always been a meeting place and – in its possible messages and essential structure – a way of thinking.

Café Congo

Congo, Mama Na Ngai !

30/06/202201/07/2022

Café Congo, an artistic, feminist, ‘decolonial’ and queer third place, will be hosting a folk/political festival in Brussels as only this place knows how around the anniversary of the independence of the Congo. Tucked away in Anderlecht in a former factory, Café Congo welcomes and honours the creations, reflections and resistance of Afro-descendants. It is headed by Gia Abrassart, an independent Congolese journalist and activist and is aimed at achieving a truly deconstructed culture.

Protestencil & Imprimerue - Drukker Straat

In PROTESTENCIL the public compose and print their own poster using the high impact stencils created by Teresa Sdralevich. Bold and simple images, inspiring words and abstract forms come together in never ending combinations, transforming participants into instant designers. In IMPRIMERUE // DRUKKER STRAAT she applies the same principle, but this time uses the street’s surface as the base on which to print.

John Armelder is sad. Easter Bells hid a surprise somewhere in his exhibition at KANAL, but John can’t find it. He looked everywhere: among his friend Charlemagne’s collection of teddy bears, in the pine trees growing on the ceiling and even around the cold campfire…

Will you help John to find his surprise? Equipped with a treasure map full of mysterious clues, and accompanied by a guide who will help you to understand john’s artworks, you will lead the investigation. And who knows, maybe you will leave with a gourmet surprise …

INTRODUCTION TO THE ALCHEMY OF CRYSTALS

22/04/202123/04/2021

Crystals and precious stones have captivated humans since the dawn of time. Artificially recreated, they have invaded our multiple industries and have been the subject of many technological advances. Fascinating by their preciousness and their unique structures, they have recently enjoyed cultural success and an imaginative exploration within contemporary art and design where their ornamental function is explored in almost all of its uses.

Fluxus Curiosity

28/02/202101/03/2021

Fluxus believes that art is not tied to any specific location or form but is an extension of life itself... The spirit of Fluxus therefore extends in all directions, including through distraction art: small boxes (Fluxbox) containing unusual objects, kits for happenings (Fluxkit) with pocket-sized works of art and absurd games... Lots of small curiosity cabinets aimed at humour, derision and fun.
