Exploring through sight and taste
Can you discover artworks through a visual and culinary journey? This question is put to the test with the Executive Master Food Design - ArBA-EsA. Pupils observe the composition and balance of artworks, then associate colours with the primary tastes (salty, sweet, sour, bitter), exploring how these influence perception. The exploration continues with an examination of ingredients’ origins, their seasonality and their journey to our table.

Workshop (210 min)

Culinary creation
After the visit, in small groups, pupils cook and create a grand banquet from start to finish. The class organises the harmony of the dishes by combining flavours, colours and table settings, drawing inspiration from the movement and interaction in the artworks they have discovered ion the exhibition. This is followed by hands-on experimentation in the kitchen– mixing, kneading and shaping dough together. At the end, everyone sits down to enjoy their creations, from first bite to final crumb!

This tour and workshop are based on the exhibition A truly immense journey, which explores the theme of movement. It brings together works from the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Kanal and other public and private collections in Belgium.
