Stephen O'Malley + Kali Malone
16/10/2020 — 17/10/2020
Stephen O’Malley "Les Sphères (ses effondrer)”
Drawing on a deeply informed sound practice developed by fascination with dhrupad, long wire instrumentation, drone music, phenomenological spectralism, and sound bath/healing. Channelled through several years collaboration and inspiration via the composers Alvin Lucier & Phill Niblock, as well as his own work with mythical heavyweights Sunn O))), Stephen here presents a long form piece of microtonal, physical sound presented in more intimate and closer spaces.

Zeta Lys
A Dutch artist based in Brussels, we owe her Oskari on The Word Radio, a rather ambient show but with no real restrictions and always on the lookout for nuggets. She has also been seen getting the crowds to move at various festivals (Listen, Out Loud, Dekmantel, Garage Noord, etc.) with more percussive sets.

FELIX KINDERMANN
CHOIR PIECE
11/10/2020 — 12/10/2020
In staging the choir Ghent Singers as a moving sculpture, Felix Kindermann‘s Choir Piece questions our relationship with the term togetherness, mirroring today‘s Zeitgeist along with its societal distortions. Through rearrangement, fragmentation, and techniques of acoustic distortion, the work creates a feeling of alienation, destabilizing the interrelated appearance and effect of the choir as a familiar cultural asset, blurring the lines which are dissolved through the play with essential opposites like harmony and disharmony, the individual and the collective.

The music composed over these four days, subsequently released on Charlemagne Palestine’s Godbear label is at the root of this performance, Palestine and Thielemans today being accompanied by guitarist Oren Ambarchi.
