Dancer of the Year - Trajal Harrell
05/10/2018 — 10/10/2018
For his first appearance at the festival, Trajal Harrell presents his latest creation, Dancer of the Year. In recent years the American dancer and choreographer has toured the world with a series of shows in which he brings together the modern dance of the white, artistic middle class with the voguing dance style practised by the African American and Latino LGBTQ communities. For the festival he ventures into a full-length solo project for the first time in a while.

Day of the dance
27/04/2019 — 28/04/2019
During the experience of the project “Migrant Bodies”, between 2014 and 2015, the artist develops an idea for a new performative practice that is deeply germinal. Starting from the observation of the migration flows of some animals that at the end of their life return to spawn and die in their natal territory, the artist began working on the concept of “turning”.

Performing Art - Noé Soulier
22/03/2019 — 23/03/2019
Now that the body has increasingly entered museums, choreographer and philosopher Noé Soulier has chosen to explore the reverse movement: what if it was the artworks that adapted themselves to a new space instead of the body? In Performing Art, spectators observe 20 works of art from the collection of the Musée National d’Art Moderne-Centre Pompidou. Not by strolling through a museum, but from the comfort of their theatre seat. The actors are the technicians of the museum who unpack the artworks onstage according to a well-defined protocol.

CARTE BLANCHE TO CASIMIR LIBERSKI
19/01/2019
For this performance, I will bring the jazz trio I regularly perform with for my own work but this time we will develop our collective improvisation around the concept of breath durations with the trumpetist Laurent Blondiaux.
Each of the musicians will play at their own respiratory pace, meaning they will only play one note, sound or passage per breath. Even the musicians who do not play wind instruments will have to mirror their own inhaling and exhaling to the articulation or way of phrasing their musical ideas on their particular percussive or string instrument.

CARTE BLANCHE TO CASIMIR LIBERSKI
13/01/2019
For this performance I will elaborate on the concept of Ragas (scales from Indian classical music) in their association with the twenty-four-hour cycle of the day. Each particular Raga has a preferred time of the day that it is being sung or played.
There is a natural relationship between certain note frequencies and human emotions and psyche according to specific hours and seasons. These notes have been organized into melodic modes and constitute a framework for improvisation.

THE ART ENSEMBLE OF BRUSSELS
26/01/2019 — 27/01/2019
The Art Ensemble of Brussels is a collective of improvisers living and working in Brussels. Having worked together these past 15 years, they have formed many different constellations over the course of different projects.
The group is made up of individuals who each have their own particularity. They concentrate their research on technique and develop a great talent for instantaneous composition and performative action.

FARMER TRAIN SWIRL - ÉTUDE
06/04/2019 — 07/04/2019
The origins of this new project by Cassiel Gaube can be found in his interest in street dance and house, which he has studied and performed. A precise interweaving of moves and steps allows him to compress a choreographic writing that opens up a poetic space and questions the essential act of the step. This project is being hosted by Kanal - Centre Pompidou.

SELFIE CONCERT
23/03/2019 — 24/03/2019
Selfie Concert is an interactive performance that will take place in the Workshops of KANAL–Centre Pompidou.
Artist, performer, singer and musician Ivo Dimchev proposes a new approach to concerts by including the audience.
Ivo Dimchev describes his project in a few words: ‘I like the idea of a concert during which people constantly take selfies with me while I sing. Selfie is a choreography. Selfie is a sculpture. Selfie is a tragedy. Selfie is love.
Selfie is less for me, more for us.’ Ivo Dimchev

ALL AROUND
21/03/2019 — 23/03/2019
Drummer Will Guthrie and choreographer/dancer Mette Ingvartsen have been following each other’s work and collaborating at a distance over the past 5 years.
In this drum/dance duo they perform live together for the first time, bringing their respective disciplines into close proximity. The result is a fusion of forms: a music concert with dance. In All Around the audience encircles a performance space occupied by a drum kit, a moving light and the performers' bodies.
