In the frame of Working Title Festival
The starting point for this film are Meggy Rustamova’s numerous attempts to photograph a tree in Hiroshima, Japan. The audiovisual trip highlights aspects of the imagination through photography, film and sound. Today’s nuclear threats and wars are translated into the white, overexposed photos, which turn into a complete ‘white-out’.

Following the demolition of the Berlin Wall, Chantal Akerman captures the reality and mutation of the former Soviet states, shot from summer through to winter in a series of travelling or static shots. From East Germany to Moscow, passing through Poland, Lithuania and the Ukraine, she records the bodies and faces of the anonymous masses, either walking or, with closed faces, simply waiting for who knows what. She films buildings, landscapes, the snow or the night and offers a mass of visual and aural impressions, in a mesmerising, impressionistic poem.

The days pass, the pages accumulate. Il: after several weeks spent tearing up and starting the letters anew, she goes out at night and meets a trucker. He talks about himself, about desire, about his relationship to women. Elle: in the middle of the night, the girl goes to a woman friend, who first rejects her, then shares her meal and bed with her.

Entre futur et poussière
Kinshasa-(N)tonga
22/03/2022 — 22/04/2022
This project presents a confrontation between the rigid grid layout designed for the city and the human aspect and the fluid sensations therein; it is a combination of a multitude of fantasies around Kinshasa, a megalopolis of over ten million inhabitants. Kinshasa is a vast, sprawling city, often labelled as individualistic due to its SAPEUR (Dandy) character that has been built up in successive layers over several centuries.
